Great info and … Great info and explains a lot of why I get false readings. Could you follow up with using a stud finder that has a built in electrical current finder. There must be some tips and false readings when using that option.
Good info. I also … Good info. I also use a reo-bar finder for concrete tilt panel work and slab work, installing bolts, holes etc. Same principle and a lot of less broken drill bits and short holes. Made by Bosch.

If its a large … If its a large towel bar you may want to consider toggle bolts,especially if the drywall is already damaged.Any hardware store clerk should be able to steer you to the right toggles I would take the towel bar with me to hardware store.Good Luck===Bob

Previous efforts by my husband lead to torn drywall because the scews never actually went INTO the stud (I think they went on the edge). Any advise?
