We are moving to the Grand Junction area in the next week and a half & I am trying to find listings of houses for sale by owner ..priced between 100,000 & 175,000 dollars…. Where can I find such listings? We have a realestate agent already.. so please no soliciters.. I just wanted to do some research of my own too & see if I can find something she didn’t…. I am doing a business card for a client. Do I put the equal housing opportunity logo? My client says she needs the Fair Housing logo… Isn’t that the same thing. She say the equal housing opportunity logo is for equal opportunity for people. I say that equal opportunity not equal housing opportunity….. I need to send these cards off. You are right. Go to National Association of Realtors website and look at the logos. The picture of a little house with the writing on them. Make sure you don’t use the one for mortgages.

We have been working with a realtor to buy a home. We recently went to an open house for a home that is not listed with a realty company (we went without our realtor), the home is being sold directly from the builder. If we decide to purchase this home and would like the services of our realtor to help with paperwork, etc. Do we then, as the buyers, pay for the realtor?

We did this exact thing – after being shown properties by a realtor we went to the open house of an unlisted property and bought it. We didn’t have any obligation to the realtor of course, since the house we purchased wasn’t listed. We maybe saved some money (or got a little nicer property for the same money) because the seller didn’t have to pay a commission to a realtor. We paid a lawyer instead to handle the sale and the seller paid theirs. Our lender saw to whatever paperwork they needed. Went fine.

On another occasion, we were selling some property and although we hadn’t listed it with a realtor, we got a tip on a potential buyer from a realtor. In this case we gave him something for passing along the information (it resulted in a sale for us) but not as much as the regular realtor’s commission would have been.

Builders do not need to have a real estate license to sell a new home that they built.

They should not be allowed to serve on City Councils because of a conflict of interest between real estate agents goals of short-term profits and the best interests of the local community, which is long-term.

Mainly when it comes to zoning and where property should be placed, the greed of each real estate agent’s market gains and loss take priority over the public community interest.

So why can’t we not allow realtors to serve city council positions to ease this frustration?

We the people like corrupt government. At all levels.

I normally invest in overseas investments through people I met on Yahoo Answers. Especially those that have spelling errors, and provide no information at all on the actual investment … just as you did.

I just passed the realty agent exam and now needed to be listed with a broker in order to be officially licensed and begin business. But I got mixed info on how easy/difficult it is to ger hired by brokers….so is it true that they basically take anyone who passes the exam and applies? Or, they just as picky as all other employer?

It’s not hard, just be aware of who you go with, as some of them make you pay to have a desk, advertising, cards, and a mentor. Yes, you have to pay for a mentor in some places, they won’t let you sell without this "training". In such a bad real estate market, maybe you should take this on as a part time thing until the market gets better. Not much is moving in NJ and foreclosures are up 68% from last year. I don’t mean to scare you, but he was very successful until the market bottomed out.

I am a newly licensed loan originator, and would like to view available property in the Chicago area, however my interest does not include the actual selling of realestate.

I am considering becoming a Realestate agent in Australia and was wondering if you have any tips or ideas? I enjoy selling and have always liked looking at houses but Im not sure practically what its like to sell houses. Is it mainly dealing with paperwork, people skills etc?

Firstly, normally the paperwork’s not too bad – most real estate agencys have reception staff and assistant who process most of thing things like contracts etc for you. Definitely people skills and sales skills, though the latter can be learned. You need to be able to get on with people easily and quickly, this helps a lot. It also really helps to have good knowledge of the local area, but again this can be learned with a bit of time and effort.

To become a registered real estate salesperson you need to complete a course to learn about real estate and property. To find out more about this contact your local real estate institute in your state, eg; for QLD it’s REIQ (www.reiq.com.au).

Some agents however encourage new starters to real estate and will support you through the course which can be a really good way to start as you then have a job to go to upon completion – call around a few agents and see if anyone is interested in working with you.
